To my fellow traveler in healing,

Hi. I’m deeply sorry we’ve met under these circumstances, but I’m grateful you’ve found your way here. I know the world of trauma—especially the kind that starts in childhood—can feel confusing, isolating, and at times, completely overwhelming.

The journey that led me to create Grief On Purpose began in 2007, when I was 26. Beau—my on-again, off-again boyfriend and best friend—died unexpectedly from a heroin overdose. That loss shattered everything, but as I worked through the grief, I realized something even more profound:

His death wasn’t the only thing I needed to heal from.

As I began to navigate my grief, I started to uncover the much deeper layers of trauma that had been there long before Beau’s death—unresolved childhood wounds, family dynamics that shaped my coping mechanisms, and old pain that shaped how I lived. And when I looked for support, for answers, for real tools to help me heal that deeper hurt, I came up empty.

This was my turning point. The world had plenty of advice about “moving on,” but it offered very little on how to actually move through trauma—the kind that roots itself in our bodies, minds, and hearts from years of unmet needs, unspoken truths, and invisible scars. I knew I wasn’t alone in that struggle.

Through my own healing (and because of it), I created Grief On Purpose—a space for real people navigating grief and trauma, especially the kinds that stay with us long after the losses we’ve experienced. It’s for those of us who carry the weight of childhood wounds, who were never taught how to truly heal, and who often feel like we’re walking through life disconnected from our own bodies and emotions. We’ve felt that rawness, that sense of disconnection, that nagging feeling of “I should be over this by now.” We know healing takes more than surface-level solution

That’s why we created The Light Within—as an extension of the work we do every day. This self-guided trauma healing course offers you the tools, understanding, and space to gently reconnect with yourself.
